NATIONAL GET ORGANIZED MONTH

Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida welcomes donations that people are willing to give. We use the revenue generated from the sale of donations throughout our stores [[and online]] to provide employment placement, job training, and certifications and credentials for anyone facing challenges to finding employment.

Additionally, we provide support services such as financial education, free tax preparation, healthcare navigation and ACCESS/SNAP application assistance to ensure that people are stable both at home and in the workplace.

Last year, 93 cents of every dollar raised at our stores helped provide job training and placement to individuals in our local community, disability services, small business development and accessible housing to improve the quality of life and the ability to live independently.

We encourage anyone who is in the process of cleaning out their belongings to donate. Perfectly reusable clothing and household products with the exception of broken or soiled items can be donated to a local Goodwill store.

For those interested in donating, you can donate at any of our Goodwill store locations, or at one of our attended donation centers. Our donation hours can be found at https://goodwillswfl.org/adc. Local Goodwill team members can answer your questions and advise on what can or can’t be donated.

Tips to Consider When Decluttering Your Home and Getting Organized

Relieve Stress: Endless clutter can often be a source of stress in your life. With so many external stressors in the world right now, negative feelings can pile up and create emotional turmoil. Getting organized could help lift a weight off your shoulders. By letting go of what you no longer use, you can gain a clear — less stressful — outlook on your home and your life.

Increase Productivity: Disorganization can often make you feel unmotivated and unproductive. Clutter can stunt productivity at home and at work. Clearing out what you no longer need can give you the energy to focus on what’s important. If one of your resolutions involves getting back on track, then decluttering and organizing can be a great place to start.

Stay Present: Even if you don't realize it, clutter in your life can cause distractions. As you move through the new year, look each day at the things around your home that you really use. When you allow yourself some time for reflection on what you need — or don’t need — you’ll see what you can remove. Letting go of past clutter can help you stay present and set clear intentions for the future.
