Computer and Electronics Recycling and Refurbishing
Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida offers free, safe, easy, and environmentally responsible computer recycling and recycling of other electronic waste. We accept donations of computers and electronics at all of our Retail & Donation Centers, as well as our Attended Donation Centers across Southwest Florida.
What happens when I donate my computer?
When you donate your computer and other electronics to Goodwill, we wipe the hard drive a minimum of three times to safeguard you against identity and data theft. Our data destruction software uses the same standards of data privacy and destruction as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. However, we also strongly recommend that you make sure to remove sensitive information before donating.
We then assess your donation to see if it can be refurbished and resold. If it is not suitable for refurbishing or resale, we will recycle the parts with an environmentally concious recycler.
How does my donation help people?
The revenue we generate from the refurbishing, resale, and recycling of your electronic waste will support our mission of providing life-changing opportunities to achieve independence for people with disabilities and other disadvantages.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Of course! Because Goodwill is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, your donations are always tax-deductible. Make sure to ask for a donation receipt when you give your donation to one of our attendants, and consult with a tax advisor to determine the value of your donated items.
